Waterford Harvest Festival 2017

September is Harvest Time, and Waterford is the place to go to celebrate it!  From September 8th -10th the city will become a mecca for food lovers and fun seekers. The Waterford Harvest Festival has a jam packed programme planned.  Here’s a quick look at some of the fantastic events to whet your appetite!

The Waterford Harvest Festival

The city centre will be buzzing for the entire weekend. The Mall will be the venue for the Festival Market. Each day, local food and drink producers will sell their wares – be sure to arrive hungry! The Se2 Mall Stage will see a variety of artists providing a live music soundtrack throughout the day.

Around the corner, in Palace Square, GIY Grow, Eat, Cook will inspire you to get growing, cooking and eating your own delicious food! Cathedral Square will be home to the Harvest Fit Food and Wellness Area. There will be free classes on yoga, mindfulness and relaxation. In addition inspirational speakers are giving talks on eating well and staying in shape. And admission to all events  is free, so your bank balance will stay healthy as well!

Ballybricken Green is going rural for the festival. An Old Style Fair featuring music, vintage tractors and face-painting, will ensure the whole family will be entertained. Be sure to check out the Pop-Up Farm. Perhaps you could learn how to milk a cow or shear a sheep?  The journey our food takes from farm to fork takes centre stage. Wellies are optional!

Something for Everyone!

Even the very youngest festival goers will be catered for at Baby HQ Livewell Day,  A fantastic programme of wellness activities including baby massage and mum-to-be pilates will have everyone chilled and ready to face the weekend.  Children of all ages are also invited to ArtStorm at the Theatre Royal. No booking is required.  Just drop in and get creative!

Of course the grown-ups need to celebrate too! The Metalman Rocks Craft Beer Festival is the place to go if you want to sample delicious local Waterford lager. Live music all weekend will help keep the festival vibes going.  Entry is free, just pay as you go for food and drink. Or perhaps Gin is more your tipple. Why not join a Master Distiller from the Blackwater Distillery for the Gintastic Lunch Trail.

Waterford Harvest Festival Blaa Eating Competition

Finally, our highlight of the festival has to be  The Waterford Harvest Blaa Eating Competition.  On Sunday, brave men and women from around the country will compete it this hotly contested event.  A Cork man won last year and rumours are circulating that some Tribesmen are planning another showdown after the All-Ireland Hurling Championship.  But there can only be one winner. Could it be you?
