Vodafone Comedy Carnival 2018
The 2018 edition of the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway has a lineup that includes some of the funniest acts on the planet. From international superstars to home-grown legends, here’s our highlights from an action packed festival…
International Stars and Home Grown Legends
Dylan Moran has been described as ‘the Oscar Wilde of comedy’. Deadpan, witty and guaranteed to get the festival off to a great start, he performs in Leisureland on Tuesday 23rd. Find out more here
One of the most exciting comedians around, Terry Alderton regularly performs all over the globe. Phill Jupitus, Paul Myrehaug, Stephen K Amos will be keeping him company in The Loft at Seven on Wednesday 24th. For details see here
From out the road in Ballinasloe, Breda Larkin will perform as part of a Stand-up Showcase in the Mick Lally Theatre on Thursday 25th and again in the Yurt on Eyre Square on Saturday 27th. Expect a hilarious and thought-provoking exploration of her life through the triple lenses of sexuality, religion and em…facial hair. Find out more here
Controversial and searingly honest, Reginald D Hunter will perform in the Black Box Theatre on Thursday 25th with Andrew Maxwell, Gina Yashere, Tom Rhodes, and Al Murray. For details see here.
Totally different, also taking place on Thursday but in the Mick Lally Theatre, Paraic Breathnach performs ‘The Macnas Was On Me’ This is a Seanachie style show of a personal journey to Theatre. Stories of the madness behind the scenes of great cultural events culminating in the creation of Macnas. Find out more here.
The Big Happy Head On Ya!
Sneak out of the office Friday lunchtime and catch Adam Burke in the Kings Head Ruby Room. When a show is named ‘The Big Happy Head On Ya!’, you know it’s got to be better than eating your sandwiches at the desk. Find out more here
One of the UK’s most successful stand-ups, Milton Jones will be in the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent in Eyre Square on Friday 26th. Simon Evans, Patrick McDonnell, Lost Voice Guy and Shane Todd will complete the line-up for what promises to be a great night. For details see here.
