Sensational days out for sensational kids.

This September, a very special event for a very special cause takes place in Rathwood, Co. Carlow. Fairies and Elves are taking over the Enchanted Forest. A festival to raise funds for the Sensational Kids charity is planned, and a magical day out for all ages and abilities is guaranteed.
 

Sensational Kids

Sensational Kids is a fantastic service. They provide subsidized developmental and educational services to help the 1 in 5 children with special educational needs to realise their full potential. In addition, they also provide high class training services for those who work with children with special needs and their parents. The charity receives no government funding. The Enchanted Fairy & Elf Festival will hopefully raise €30,000 in one weekend, to allow them continue their vital work.

So what’s it all about…

Tickets are to be booked in advance. This will ensure only a limited number of people are given a particular time slot. Don your fairy wings and elf hats, as fancy dress is encouraged.

The festival begins with crafts. Every visitor gets to decorate their very own fairy house. Then all aboard the Rathwood Express. A train journey through the enchanted forest, stopping along the way for fun and games, will have your little ones mesmerised. Next up, there’s a meet and greet with some of the elves and fairies in the Enchanted Fairy & Elf Festival Area.
Once you are ready to leave the world of the creatures of the woodland, you can enjoy all the facilities at Rathwood at your leisure. Get lost in the Maze of Ireland, stroll through the Forest Walks and visit the Deer Park.
Naturally after all the action, you might be a little thirsty. Therefore, included in the ticket is a hot chocolate in the Rathwood restaurant.
 
 

 

 
 
Dedicated Special Needs Times are available at 9am and 9.30am each day. During these times there will be reduced numbers.  Also quieter music will be played in the festival area. The Rathwood Forest Walks are very easy trails, suitable for walkers of all ages and abilities.  Furthermore, the walk trail to the lake is wheelchair accessible. So this is a festival everyone can enjoy.
