Dublin Pride at Home
What started as a protest in the early 1980’s has transformed into one of the most colourful and best-loved festivals in Ireland. Dublin Pride is celebration of the LGBT community and of a modern Ireland. And although the traditional gatherings in Dublin City centre are off the table due to Covid-19, no virus can stop the togetherness.
From 18th to 28th a programme of events, as diverse as the community they celebrate, are taking place online. From an online quiz, to the pride pet show, from political debates, to a wigs and wine party – there something for everyone.
Dublin Pride Parade 2020
But of course the main event of Dublin Pride is always the parade. On Sunday 28th a fully interactive virtual Pride Parade can be enjoyed, from the couch, at 2pm. The parade will be a mix of pre-recorded and live elements with hosts, Paul Ryder and Eddie McGuinness. The Virtual Parade will be led out by the Lord Mayor of Dublin and front line workers from across the city.
Why not take part? Take a video of your gang marching around the back garden. The deadline for submissions is 24th June and you can send then in here
Online Pride Concert
Then mix the cocktails or mocktails and settle back for the Pride Concert. Starting at 7pm there will be a stellar line up of performers to entertain and inspire.
Wherever you are this June fly the flags high. Visit DublinPride.ie for all the details and experience Dublin Pride at home this year.
