OFFline Film Festival 2021

OFFline Film Festival 2021

An annual autumn favourite, the OFFline film festival takes place in Birr and online between 3 and 11 October. And while this year’s festival programme has been somewhat curtailed due to government restrictions, no pandemic will stifle the creativity of the organisers. They have put together a delightful line up of film screenings and workshops to brighten up a mid-October week.

This year they have more short film entries than ever before. There will be a healthy representation of Irish Films and a dedicated animation shorts slot with a Show and Tell from this year’s Offline Animation Residents.

O Reflexo do Lago – Amazon River

The main theme of Man and Land  showcases documentaries that examine the complex questions of land exploitation , the human stories of the communities associated with industrial land use, and the hope for a Just Transition to a more  sustainable way of being.

The organisers have not forgotten their younger audiences. The festival starts with some family fun in the form of a screening of Doolittle in the Birr Theatre and Arts Centre. Of course social distancing and safety measures will ensure that everyone can comfortably enjoy an afternoon at the movies.

in addition, throughout the week, various workshops will take place for those looking to flex their creativity. And on Wednesday, an afternoon online panel discussion will tease out the future of film making in Offaly.
