The Little Festival at the Big House – Wells House and Gardens
Can we slow down the summer please? Back to school is looming. But in the midst of getting the uniforms, school shoes and books, it’s important to enjoy the last few weeks of freedom before the new school year begins.
Wells House and Gardens
Those based in the South East may already be familiar with the historic Wells House and Gardens. Set in beautiful woodlands, this Victorian House and Gardens has been a favorite with Irish families for generations. Often the setting for great child friendly events, this year is no exception.
The Little Festival at the Big House
During The Little Festival at the Big House on 12-13th August, the estate will be over-run with clowns, musicians and performers. In association with Wexford Arts Centre, a fun-filled family friendly two days are planned.
Expect belly-laughs with Guido Fanzini and his street style circus acts. Puppet shows throughout the day promise entertainment for all ages. If your children prefer to try things out for themselves, they can have a go at making their own puppets at the craft station.
Naturally a festival isn’t a festival without face-painting, balloon-modelling and magic-tricks galore. And be sure to catch the outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. The teachers are bound to be impressed by that come September!
Soak up the Summer Vibes
The soundtrack for the weekend will come from some wonderful musicians performing throughout the two days at the dedicated music station. We recommend that you bring a picnic blanket. Lie back and enjoy soaking up the summer vibes and hopefully the last of the summer rays. The promise of a delicious BBQ is sure to keep the kids quiet for a while!
At €10 per car, this is one of the best value days out of the Summer. BBQ food is a little extra but festival goers can also enjoy all the fantastic facilities at Well’s House. There are magical woodland walks,an adventure playground, an animal farm, archery, falconry, a craft courtyard and delicious food from Mrs Stone’s restaurant.
Wells House is buggy friendly with baby-changing facilities on hand. There are disabled parking spaces available. And plenty of well maintained paths around the ground make this event suitable for all. Should you have any specific questions relating to accessibility please email info@wellshouse.ie.
