Travels Down the Nile
Rosemary Mahoney, the multi award winning writer will be in the hot seat on Friday the 15th. Her travelogue ‘Travels Down the Nile’ will be the topic on the agenda. Writer Jan Morris selected this for Conde Nast Traveller’s list of best  travel books of all time. Certainly this event will be a highlight of the festival

Michael Smith is one of the foremost experts on Polar exploration.  Michael’s books include An Unsung Hero – Tom Crean, Shackleton – By Endurance We Conquer, Great Endeavour – Ireland’s Antarctic Explorers and Captain Francis – Last Man Standing and for younger readers, Tom Crean – Iceman. ‘Discovering Ireland’s History and Ireland’s Antarctic Explorer’s’ will be an unmissable afternoon for those with an interest adventure.
 

‘Adventuring off the Beaten Track’

Jacki Hill-Murphy

Jacki Hill-Murphy will be sharing tales of ‘Adventuring off the Beaten Track’.  She has travelled to some of the most inhospitable places in the world to re-create the journeys of daring women adventurers of the past.  Jacki has retraced the journey made by Kate Marsden from Moscow to Siberia looking for a cure for leprosy amongst other. Without doubt, this should be a fascinating evening.
 

Lots of Family Fun at Immrama

Expect plenty of family fun throughout Immrama. On Saturday 16th there will be Antarctic workshops for children. And on Sunday 17th the Millenium Park will be a hive of activity between 2pm and 5pm. The Booley House are tasked with providing the entertainment for the afternoon.
 
So there is no need to travel the world. Just head to Lismore for Immrama and you will have the adventure of a lifetime!
