Family Friendly Events for the May Bank Holiday
So, the forecast for the long weekend isn’t great. But not to worry, there are lots of fantastic festivals going on all over the country. Here’s a snapshot of just some of the great family friendly events happening around the country…
Family Friendly Events from around Ireland
Waterford
Lismore will be a junior booklover’s dream this weekend. Towers and Tales – The Lismore story festival sees childhood classics brought to life. Most of the ticketed events are sold out. However, there is a festival hub centred around Lismore Castle Courtyard. Here you will find a magical atmosphere with lots of free events all day.
Galway
The Connemara Mussel Festival is a real celebration of food and culture. The festival organisers have thought of everyone. For children there is storytelling, face painting, treasure hunts and lots more. Grown-ups can settle for with wine tasting, tai chi, music, a whiskey masterclass and as many food events as you can stomach. One for gourmands big and small!
Staying in Galway, hopping over to one of the Aran Islands, the Inishbofin Arts Festival will showcase the best of Irish talent as well as island-based craftspeople and performers. Consequently, if you are a family of music lovers this will be a weekend to remember in spectacular surroundings.
Dublin
The folk in Airfield, Dundrum have promised to make families go barn-y for all thing farm-y this weekend! Woolapalooza sheep and farm festival has a jam packed programme of events. Therefore, from sheep-shearing to sheep-dog trials, there are lots of activities planned to keep all wannabe farmers happy.
Tipperary
The Tipperary town of Roscrea will be swinging when the Cré Music Festival kicks off this Sunday. There is a special family ticket available so everyone can enjoy their own tunes ranging from The Riptide Movement, to The Stunning and a host of other great musicians.
