Autumn in May – featuring masterpieces by composers in their later years - is the theme for the sixth annual Killaloe Chamber Music Festival, this May 24 -27 in the atmospheric surroundings of St. Flannan’s Cathedral, Killaloe, Co. Clare. At the heart of the festival are the main evening concerts, mixing great works by nineteenth century masters (including Schubert, Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn) with modern and baroque styles.Artists include the Carducci Quartet, pianist Sholto Kynoch, baritone Benson Wilson, violinist Katherine Hunka and violist/artistic director Joachim Roewer and dancer Colin Dunne.
Dance and theatre are new elements in this year’s festival, which opens with the exciting Irish premiere of the children’s chamber opera, Brundibár’ by Hans Krása., the score of which was smuggled in 1943 into Teresin concentration camp.
Come to Killaloe, the historic town on Lough Derg, for a feast of glorious music played by the best of international artists.
