Clonmel Junction Festival 2020

Always a high point of the Irish arts calendar, this years Clonmel Junction Festival has been re-imagined for our unprecedented times. With a vibrant programme of virtual events happening between 4 – 12 July, there is something for all ages and interests.

Our highlights

Get each day off to a perfect start. Join some of Clonmel’s best yoga, tai chi, mindfulness and movement trainers with an energising morning class alongside the River Suir. Albert Nolan’s Bug Safari will take place straight after. You can watch as the botanist explores the world of the tiniest inhabitants of Clonmel’s Blueway. Then go on a Bug Safari yourself!

Vision. Creativity. Imagination

Visionaries Symposium is a landmark virtual event due to take place on July 4th on digital platforms. RTÉ Arena presenter Seán Rocks will host composer Roger Doyle, visual artist Ailbhe Ní Bhriain, and director Adrian Jackson in this digital event.

In 7 lectures, daily at 11am, Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly of The School Of Looking look into the vision revolution that has made the whole universe visible to us.

With the lifting of travel restrictions you may be tempted to make the trip to Tipp. And if you are in the area? The Boatmen of Clonmel Art Trail is a series of visual and sound art installations around Clonmel that respond to the boat and river collection of Tipperary Museum of Hidden Histories.

The River Art workshop takes inspiration from nature. Elke Wilson shows you how to gather natural materials growing along the banks of the river Suir. You can create a willow fish that you can float down the river or have as a keepsake

Musical celebrations

It is 10 years since the passing of Liam Clancy, one of Tipperary’s finest musicians. Dónal Clancy will perform his father’s music in a special solo performance by the gifted singer and guitarist. Taking place on Saturday 12th, this will be an unmissable event.

For some fresh talent, check out Clonmel Rocks! This is project to get young Clonmel musicians together through music. With two months of virtual rehearsal under their belts, these future stars will perform in a rocking concert video for this year’s Clonmel Junction Arts Festival on July 12th!
