Christmas Market 2018
This year there are some lovely Christmas markets taking place all around the country. Local artisan food producers and craftspeople will be displaying the best of Irish produce. So why not start on the Christmas list early and buy Irish. We have lots of different markets listed on our website www.inspireme.ie, and have listed a few of our favourites below.
Get the festive feeling at a Christmas Market
Frostival 2018 is the Dundalk Christmas market. Taking place on Friday 23rd November in Market Square, this festival is sure to get you into the festive mood.
As part of the Winterval festival the Waterford Country Market will be taking place each Friday from 8am – 3pm up to 23rd December. Expect delicious fresh produce from local producers or take the time to browse the craft stalls. See here for more details.
The fantastically named Jingle and Mingle Christmas Market will also be taking place on Friday 23rd November in Tullow Co. Carlow. Beginning at 12 noon this family friendly festival has face painting, entertainment and a mini fun fair. Add in festive food, mulled wine and a visit from the man himself at 5pm and this is one not to be missed. Find out more here.
Local Christmas crafts
In the West the town of Glenamaddy will be swaying to the music of the local Comhaltas group during their Christmas fair. With children’s entertainment, a raffle and plenty of local Christmas crafts, this is definitely one to check out on Sunday 25th November. Find all the details here.
The beautiful Belvedere House in Mullingar will host its Christmas Food and Design Winter Fair on the weekend of 1-2nd Dec. With free admission and beautiful crafts, delightful designs and fabulous food, this is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. See here for all the details.
Santa will also be making an appearance in Mohill, County Leitrim on Sunday 2nd Dec for the annual Christmas craft fair. Little ones can visit the grotto while big kids get to browse the stalls and pick up some lovely stocking fillers. See here for more details.
Back to Carlow, the always fantastic Duckett’s Grove historical house estate will be transformed into a winter wonderland. Its ever popular Christmas Food and Craft Fair promises to delight. There will be lots for the little ones, including Santa’s Grotto, festive face painting, a giant snow globe and the intriguing-sounding Santa orienteering course. To top the list, there will be demonstrations of the beautiful birds of prey from the falconry. On Sunday 2nd December, this is definitely one for the diaries. See here for all the details.
A charitable way to shop
Meanwhile in Cork the annual Marymount Christmas Market will take place from 3-7 pm on Sunday 2nd December. You can while away the hours doing some pre-Christmas shopping. All are welcome. Find all the details here.
The Trim Christmas Market is always a hugely popular event. Taking place in the Emmet Street Car Park there will be a Puppet Panto Show, a Singing Santa and a funfair. Taking place from 7th to 9th December there will be lots of tasty treats on offer. See here for more details.
In Abbeyshrule Co. Longford there will be plenty to occupy the troops. Between local crafts for sale, and a children’s craft workshop, a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus, and a charity tractor run at sundown, this promises to be a busy day. Festive food will be available all day. And a raffle in aid of local autism groups will help raise much needed funds. Find out more here.
A Christmas Market with a difference
