The festive season is fast approaching and lists are getting longer. With so much to do it can be hard to find the time to figure out what’s on? So here at InspireMe.ie we have decided to try and make your life a little easier. We have picked out just some of the delightful events happening this Christmas in Dublin. Stillorgan Shopping Centre

The Man in Red will be making a special appearance in Stillorgan Shopping Centre on Thurs 23rd Nov at 5.30pm. This free event will set the tone with a DJ, parade, magician, carousel and giveaway treats. It promises fun for all the family. The lights will be switched on and then it’s official – Christmas has begun.
 

Free Festive Fun in Merrion Square

Or for another family and pocket friendly trip head to Merrion Square in the heart of the city. The Natural History Museum of Ireland will have some lovely family friendly events this Christmas. One of our favourites is Christmas on the Square on 25th November from 11-1. Kids of all ages can pick up a Winter Activity Trail Sheet. Watch eyes open wide with delight as they search for clues amongst the amazing exhibits as they follow the ‘Do Not Disturb’ trail. Admission is free. And no booking required.
 

I’m dreaming of a Green Christmas

Christmas in the National Botanical Gardens

Most of us dream of a white Christmas but if you fancy a bit of green in yours, why not head to the National Botanic Gardens on Sunday 26th Nov for Eco Christmas Crafts. Aimed at adults this unique workshop will show you how to make eco-conscious biodegradable cards with seeds that can be planted after the holidays. The gift that keeps on giving. Or on Dec 2nd why not stroll through the Botanic Gardens with an expert guide who will be doing a Themed Guided Walk on Christmas Plants. Explore the flowers and plants that play their part in the history of Christmas throughout the ages.
 

Music, Movies and Magic in Smithfield

Also on Sun 26th in Smithfield Square Christmas Market, starting at 3pm is the annual Turning on the Christmas Lights in association with Dublin City Council. This is a family friendly affair.  There will be an outdoor Christmas market, live music, festive food and movie screenings. One not to be missed.

DIT Chamber Choir

If you love the music that is associated with the festive season then be sure to head to the National Concert Hall. They have a wonderful programme of events all through December. But one that caught our eye is the DIT Chamber Choir performing seasonal classics at lunchtime on Friday 1st Dec.
 

Jingle All the Way in the Phoenix Park

Or if you are feeling energetic why not go for a Jingle Bells 5k Run in the Phoenix Park on Sat 2nd. Donore Harriers running club have established one of the fastest 5k runs, in a brilliant location. This is also a family friendly event so runners of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Christmas Treats at the Newmarket Fair

Sunday 3rd Dec sees a Wonderful Pop-up Christmas Fair in Newmarket Square, D8.With over 100 stalls, artisan foods, live music and carols and a visit from a certain Mr Claus, you can make serious inroads into the Christmas lists. This event is child and pet-friendly and entry is free – what’s not to love.
