Many people consider Christmas Dinner to be their favorite meal of the year. Often these people are not the cooks… And although we all agree having everyone gathered at the table in the spirit of goodwill is the most important thing, dry turkey does rather stick in the throat. With this in mind we have picked a few Christmas Cooking Demonstrations that are happening around the country to inspire your Christmas menu. We can’t however help with the washing up….
Cooking for a Cause
On Sunday 19th November, renowned chef Neven Maguire will host a Christmas Food Festival Demonstration at the Castleknock Hotel in Dublin. There will be lots of food and craft stalls to catch your eye as well. We promise not to judge should you pick up a pudding to pass off as your own. This event is in aid of the Target Lung Cancer appeal at St James’s Hospital. So not only will this be a great night, it’s supporting a wonderful cause.
Simply Delicious in Cork
A Simply Delicious Christmas is the bible for festive baking in many houses. The author of this cooking classic, Darina Allen, will be giving a Festive Cooking Demonstration in the Ballymaloe Grainstore on Thursday 23rd November. With time-tested recipes and new ideas, Darina is the Queen of Christmas Cooking.
Wine and Dine in Waterford
In Lismore, Co Waterford, Catherine Fulvio will be on hand with a Christmas Cooking Demonstration that will save you from soggy sprouts. The event takes place on Thursday 30th November. A cheese and wine reception will start what is sure to be a lovely night.
Kerry’s Festive Feast
For those who enjoy eating just as much as cooking, the Muckross Park Hotel in Killarney has the perfect evening planned. Kevin Dundon’s Christmas Cooking Event takes place on Friday 24th November. Guest can enjoy a Mulled Wine reception followed by a cooking demo. Expect plenty of tips and tricks to make Christmas Dinner a breeze. But what really sets this night apart is the three course dinner featuring some of the recipes that will follow.
Culinary Carlow
Last but not least, The Visual in Carlow have a trio of outstanding chefs on hand showcasing the best of the county’s food and drink. They have Neven Maguire on Thursday 7th, Kevin Dundon on Friday 8th and Catherine Fulvio on Saturday 9th. If you have relations in Carlow we strongly suggest inviting yourself over for Christmas Day. The culinary expertise at their disposal is second to none.
