The Thurles Christmas Skyfest on Sunday 17th of December will be a festive extravaganza. With carol singers, fireworks, a polar express train and lots more, this will be a guaranteed wonderful day out for young and old.
The man in red is taking up residence in Dundrum for Santa in the Woods. And Mrs Claus with a few of the elves won’t be far behind. This will be a very special and non-commercialized event hosted by the 34th Tipperary Scouts. Bring your camera to capture their faces as they light up with glee. Sure to be a magical trip for everyone.
Christmas kicks off in style in Cashel on December 1st. The Christmas Lights Switch On takes place in Cashel Plaza. Enjoy family fun with Wobbly Circus. Sing along with Choirs and the Cashel Brass Band. This promises to be a lovely evening for all the community. The perfect way to start the countdown to the big day.
The always fabulous Eimear Quinn singing ‘O Holy Night’ is a sublime Christmas experience. Her Christmas Concert in the Nenagh Arts Centre on Thursday 14th December will be unmissable. It will be impossible to feel even remotely ‘bah humbug’ in the presence of this angelic voice.
The Taste of Roscrea Christmas Festival will surely be a wonderful weekend.With Christmas markets, Santa and snow, that festive feeling will be all around from 7th -10th December. And fans of RTE’s ‘Say Yes to The Dress’ are in for a real treat. Franc will be on hand to add some glamour to the weekend.
Gurteen College outside Roscrea will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland for the month of December. Visit the pet-farm and play area, before a special visit with Mr and Mrs Claus. Find out more here.
North Tipperary will be a mecca for Christmas shoppers on Saturday 2nd December. The Chapel Lane Christmas Market will be filled with wonderful food and craft stalls with activities for all the family. Rumour has it Santa will be stopping by to check who’s on the nice list…. He is being kept busy in Tipperary this December. An extra carrot for Rudolph might be required.
For a traditional celebration of Christmas, look no further than the Carol Service in the Holy Trinity Church on Sunday the 17th December. Give yourself some time out from all the hustle and bustle, and take some time to sit and listen to all your favourite traditional carols.
The Fethard & District Day Care Centre hold their Annual Christmas Baazar on Thursday 30th November. Along with lots of lovely crafts and home-baking, there will be plenty of chats and tea on hand!
Carrick on Suir
Wrap up warm in Carrick on Suir on the night of December 16th. A parade of tractors decked out in Christmas lights will parade through the town. This is a special fundraiser for two fantastic charities, the Brain Tumour Support Group and the Make a Wish Foundation. Kids of all ages will be mesmerised at this fun free event. Christmas in Clonmel starts in earnest on Saturday 2nd December. Santa Claus comes to Clonmel and he’s going to party. With music, dance and lots of fun, the special guest will turn on the Christmas lights, Let the season begin..
Old St Mary’s Church will host a Christmas Fair on Sunday 10th December. With a live crib and lots of real trees on offer pop along for some Christmas cheer.
The Garda Siochana Benefit Night on Thursday 7th December in Hotel Minella will be a joyful night. The Garda Siochana Band will be accompanied on the night by special guests from Scoil Chormaic School. And funds raised on the night will benefit two wonderful local causes.
Finally Winter Wonderland at Kildanogue Duck Ponds, just outside Goatenbridge village, is a very special festive celebration of everything that is good about the area. In this unique and mystical setting, the organisers have put together a festival of seasonal celebration that will live long in the memories of kids and adults alike. There are only a handful of spaces left though, so act fast…
