It’s festival season! There are some amazing events happening around the country (and online) this week. Here’s our pick of what’s on…..

FESTIVAL: Cairde Sligo Arts Festival

Inspired by the creative energy of Ireland’s Northwest, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival is a unique coming together of artists and audiences. It is a celebration of imagination and shared experience that welcomes all.

Highlights include Seven Sisters, a major new commission of an illuminated outdoor spectacle by LUXE, Tumble Circus’ Cycle Circus, Writing from the West featuring Kevin Barry, Louise Kennedy and Una Mannion, the return of the Vagabond Voices Series, the introduction of Far In Far Out, a Visual Arts Trail and much more.

FESTIVAL: Féile Brian Ború

Always a great celebration in Killaloe and Ballina, Feile Brian Boru 2021 will take place from Wednesday 7th – Sunday 11th July. It will be a slighlty different festival to normal with online workshops, class and talks, plenty of outdoor activities and “Brian Ború’s Wild and Wonderful Art Adventure”

FESTIVAL: Earagail Arts Festival

Earagail Arts Festival invites you to the most northern part of the Wild Atlantic Way, County Donegal, to enjoy its 2021 hybrid programme of online and live events in July this summer.
Earagail Arts Festival’s 2021 hybrid programme of online and live events from 04 to 25 July, will feature a series of public participatory digital projects including interactive workshops and AR (augmented reality) installations, coupled with a return to live music, spoken word, circus, aerial performances and innovative theatre – from the islands of the Gaeltacht to the peninsulas of Inishowen and Fanad, from the streets of Letterkenny to Raphoe and Ballybofey, celebrating the people and the places of Donegal.

FESTIVAL: Galway Walking Festival

The Galway Tour Guides Association in partnership with Galway City Council are hosting over 20 themed walks, from 9 -25 July . All are delivered by professional accredited tour guides, highlighting all that is special and unique about Galway’s heritage
The Galway Walking Festival consists of many different walks which are delivered by professional accredited tour guides and aim to highlight all that is special and unique about Galway, its ancient cobbled streets, rivers, lakes and canal, architecture, poetry, film and literature, woodland and natural heritage. It’s safe, it’s fun for young and not so young. Reconnect with friends, reconnect with Galway.

FESTIVAL: Limerick Bastille Day Wild Geese Festival 2021

Limerick will mark the 330th anniversary of the Flight of the Wild Geese and celebrate the longstanding friendship between Ireland and France, with a weekend-long event involving animations, a mini-market, concerts, visual displays, a ceremony and a mini-regatta from 9th – 11th July, 2021.

The Limerick Bastille Wild Geese Festival is Limerick’s new annual summer festival. Organised by Limerick Civic Trust and the Consular Agency of France in the Mid-West, with the support of the Limerick City and County Council, the Limerick celebration will feature free family entertainment at the Milk Market (Friday 9 July), in the new gardens of the Hunt Museum (Saturday 10 July) and at King John’s Castle (Sunday 11 July). Numbers of attendees at each event will be limited due to the Covid-19 restrictions still in place, but it will be possible to book free tickets on Eventbrite (links to the Eventbrite page for each event will be activated 36 hours before each event).
