FESTIVAL: Ballina Fringe Festival

Despite the challenging circumstances of planning a festival in the middle of a global pandemic, Ballina Fringe Festival has put together a range of exciting, unusual, interesting and colourful events from 09 – 18 October.
The Moy Sessions will see some live musical performances take place in the town including a set the superb Billow Wood. There will be a celebration of visual arts and the spoken word. Check out their website for the full programme.

MUSIC: Pipeworks Presents the Music of Louis Vierne

This Thursday, October 8th, marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Louis Vierne, one of the most significant composers of organ music. Despite near complete blindness and a life beset by various misfortunes, he left a substantial body of compositions of high quality, and was for 37 years Organist of Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris. Throughout the day Pipeworks will be streaming music by Vierne on their social media channels.

FESTIVAL: Galway Cartoon Festival

Appropriately titled ‘The New Normal’, the Galway Cartoon Festival continues until 9th October, bringing some much need colour to our lives. Cartoonists around the world have been responding with great humour to the Covid-19 crisis. The festival will feature exhibitions, panel discussions and workshops .
