5 Events to Finish Out the Summer of Hurling

In the end it comes down to Galway and Limerick…  When they last met  back in 1980, Joe Connolly gave his legendary victory speech on the steps of the Hogan Stand.  And Limerick’s Eamon Cregan cemented his place in history by scoring 2-07.

On Sunday 18th of August, David Burke of Galway or Declan Hannon of Limerick will lift the Liam McCarthy cup. One county will spend the next 12 months celebrating. The rest of us will have have to hold tight until the National League. However, we want to get the maximum enjoyment out of the next few days. So here’s five events leading up to that glorious Sunday in Croke Park when we will all get to enjoy the best sport in the world….

By now, you probably think you know whether or not Galway will be getting their hands on Liam for the 6th time. Or perhaps Limerick will end their 45 year drought and win their 8th title. So you can take time out in Newbridge on Tuesday the 14th and remind yourself why we love this game so much. Hurling for Cancer will see a host of Irish hurling and horse racing legends come together for this annual festival to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. With a host of GAA and Horse Racing Stars including Jim Bolger, Davy Russell, Brian Cody; Colm O’Rourke, Joe Brolly, Katie Walsh, Niall Quinn, Cyril Farrell and Henry Shefflin taking part, this is going to be some evening.
