Rhododendron Walking Festival, Co Tipperary
The inaugural Rhododendron Walking Festival 2018 will celebrate the majestic purple blooms that cover the Knockmealdown Mountains. This is a fantastic opportunity to see one of nature’s greatest spectacles right on our doorstep. Find out more here.
Burrishoole Walkfest, Co Mayo
Many of us will have experienced the beautiful scenery between Newport and Achill as we whizzed by on bikes on the Greenway. The Burrishoole Walkfest is an opportunity to really explore the area on foot, with the benefit of local knowledge. The majority of the guides are local farmers. Their inside knowledge of the Burrishoole local heritage, folklore, customs and flora & fauna mean you will gain a unique insight into this slice of the Wild Atlantic Way. Find out more here.
Bantry Walking Festival, Co. Cork
Bantry Bay is a walker’s paradise at anytime of the year. But this June Bank Holiday it really is worth considering a trip to West Cork. The Bantry Walking Festival is in its fifth year. And this edition is like a greatest hits, with all the best walks from the last few years re-visited. Find out more here.
Connemara Bog Week, Co. Galway.
Technically this isn’t a walking festival, but a celebration of all things Connemara, it’s landscapes and it’s communities. Each day of the festival, from Monday 28th May to Monday 4th June there will be free guided walks in the stunning Connemara National Park. And on Sunday 3rd June, a Connemara Walkabout is planned including a guided walk of Omey Island with a local archeologist. Find out more here.
