Story-Time in Clondalkin

The libraries across Dublin have a terrific programme of events for all ages this Autumn. Each Tuesday in Clondalkin library, children aged 3-6 years old are invited to listen to a story and participate in some arts and crafts. A perfect way to while away an afternoon. Find out more here.
 

The Busker Fleadh in Smithfield

Smithfield Square is always a hive of activity at the weekends. And on the first Sunday in October, a variety of busking acts from around the country will perform for the public. Schools around the country will be celebrating Space Week in early October. Everyone can get in on the action at the Chester Beatty Library on Sunday 7th. A free screening of  Astro Boy is lovely treat for future astronauts, and sure to inspire curious minds. Find out more here
 

Family Workshops at the National Gallery of Ireland

Each Sunday.
If you are in the city centre any Sunday during October, be sure to head over to the National Gallery of Ireland. During a drop-in workshop, children and their parents/guardians/carers are encouraged to work together on creative projects.  Every week there is a different theme. Dalkey Creates Writing Festival

Dalkey has been home to writers like  George Bernard Shaw and Maeve Binchy for generations. So where better to find inspiration to write, improve your craft or find out how to overcome the challenge of getting published. Alongside paid workshops, there are some lovely free events taking place over the weekend. Brave souls should take part  in Open Mic on Thursday at Finnegan’s Pub. The Art Animation Show.

Oct 27 – Nov 4
The Animation Art Show is an exhibition and auction in aid of the Jack & Jill Foundation, LauraLynn, the  ISPCC and Autism Assistance Dogs Ireland. All artwork is donated by animation professionals and students. There will be painting, print, sculpture, plush toys, animation cels and more. Pop along to The Ark in Temple Bar to see the exhibition and perhaps treat yourself to a masterpiece for a great cause. Find out more here

St Patrick’s After Dark

Finally on the last day of the month,  there is a candlelit recital of suitably chilling music in St Patrick’s Cathedral. There is a fantastic programme including Saint-Saen’s Danse Macabre, Grieg In the Hall of the Mountain King and the Pirates of the Caribbean, Ghostbusters and a little musical meddling from Harry Potter.
