Schools out for summer…  We have some suggestions for some free family friendly things to do around the country for the month of July. Rain or shine these fun days out will be the highlight of the holidays!
 
Family Comedy Weekend in Farmleigh Estate
Saturday July 1st and Sunday July 2nd
Farmleigh turns funny farm for this great free weekend. A jam packed programme of stand-up comedy shows, workshops and laughs with the Punch Lion Kids’ Comedy group will be a sure-fire hit with all ages.
 

Donabate Family Fun Day

Saturday July 1st
With free food from local producers, face-painting, bouncy castles and lots of fun games, this will be a lovely community event in Donabate.  
 

Kids Summer in the City

Every Friday and Saturday until September
The streets of Waterford City will come alive with Summer in the City with the best in Live Music, Kid’s Entertainment and Street Theatre. And it won’t cost you a cent to enjoy!
 

Summer Stars Reading Adventure

From July 4th
Not strictly an event, but we wanted to sneak this in. The  Summer Stars Reading Adventures  in  Kilkenny Library branches, is a free programme, open to all children and families. Visit your local library branch from Tuesday 4th July. Each child that joins the challenge will receive their own Summer Stars Reading Card to record their progress. This is definitely one to keep them entertained for the holidays.
 

Laya City Spectacular Dublin and Laya City Spectacular Cork

Dublin July 10-12th and Cork July 18-19th

Laya City Spectacular

The Laya City Spectacular events in Dublin’s Merrion Square and Fitzgerald Park in Cork are among Ireland’s biggest & most-loved summer festivals. Music, dance, drama, books, food – It’s all here! With Pat Divilly, the Happy Pear guys and Dustin the Turkey lined up to educate and entertain, there is going to be something for everyone.
 

Tipperary Festival

July 14-15th
It really is not a long way to go to Tipperary, and it’s a journey well worth taking for the Tipperary festival. Our highlight from last year was The All Ireland Churn Rolling Championships. But of course there’s lots more planned, including a Food & Craft Market, a Dog Show and Street Entertainment. All free and all fun!
 

Festival Francais de Portarlington

July 14-16th
Laois is where to go if you want ‘un festival pour toute la famille’. Speaking french isn’t necessary but having a good time is essential. There will be music and craic aplenty, with Festival Funfair Stalls set up along the Main Street.
 

Roundstone Regatta

July 22-23rd
Each July the quiet Connemara village of Roundstone erupts in spectacular celebration of a maritime festival that dates back to the 1890s. Sail and oar propel traditional boats in two days of racing that showcase athletic skill as well as keeping alive the important role these craft have played in the islands and coastal communities over the centuries. As well as excitement on the water, the Roundstone Regatta offers traditional music and dancing ashore. A great weekend guaranteed.
 

Bray Air Display

July 22-23rd

A jaw-dropping spectacle that will impress all ages, the Bray Air Display should be high on the list of Things to Do this Summer. This great family weekend all kicks off at 12 noon on both days. As well as the incredible display in the skies over Bray there will be plenty of family fun.
 

Black Big Festival Enniscrone

July 27-31st
As usual, there is something for all the family in the Enniscrone Festival, and this year, the programme includes delights such as a skydiving show, a Monster SUP (stand-up paddling) challenge, sunrise yoga on the beach, comedy, live music, the Soapbox Derby (back by popular demand!) treasure hunts … And last but not least,a fantastic fireworks display will see the month of July go out with a bang!
